Everything You Need To Know

General, Servicing & Repairs FAQ's

  • What is hydronic heating?

Hydronic heating is a system that uses heated water circulated through pipes to warm your home. The heat is delivered through radiators, underfloor heating, towel rails, or other emitters to create steady and comfortable warmth.

  • How does hydronic heating work?

Water is heated using a gas boiler or heat pump. That warm water is then pumped through a closed loop system of pipes and released into different areas of your home through radiators or underfloor systems.

  • Is hydronic heating energy efficient?

Yes. Hydronic systems are known for efficient and consistent heating because they use water to transfer heat and allow for targeted zone control. This can help reduce wasted energy compared to some other heating systems.

  • What are common signs my hydronic system needs repair?

Common signs include cold radiators, uneven heating, unusual noises, low pressure, or rooms that are not heating properly. These usually indicate circulation, air, or control issues.

  • Do you repair all types of hydronic systems?

Yes. We work on a wide range of hydronic systems including gas boilers, heat pump systems, radiators, underfloor heating, and mixed setups.

  • How long does a hydronic repair usually take?

It depends on the issue. Some problems can be fixed on the same visit, while more complex faults may require diagnosis, parts, or follow up work.

  • Can you service older hydronic heating systems?

Yes. Many older systems can still be repaired or improved with the right maintenance, replacement parts, and system balancing.

  • Do I need regular servicing for hydronic heating?

Regular servicing is recommended to keep your system efficient, safe, and reliable. It also helps prevent unexpected breakdowns and extends system lifespan.

  • What areas do you service?

We service homes across Melbourne and surrounding areas, including the Mornington Peninsula and nearby suburbs.

  • How do I book a repair or service?

You can book by contacting us through the website form or by calling directly to arrange an inspection or repair visit.

Installation & Quoting FAQ's

  • What is your installation quoting process?

Our installation process begins with an initial consultation by phone or email to understand your project and requirements. We then review your plans, prepare a Provisional Costings Quote (PCQ), and if the project is suitable, move to a Fixed Price Contract (FPC) following a site inspection if required.

  • How long does the quoting process take?

How long does the quoting process take?

In most cases, the process from initial enquiry through to a final fixed price quotation takes approximately two to three weeks.

  • Do you offer fixed price quotations?

Yes. Once the project details have been reviewed and, where necessary, a site inspection has been completed, we provide a locked in Fixed Price Contract to minimise future variations and unexpected costs.

  • Do I need a site inspection?

For many installations, yes. A site inspection allows us to measure rooms, confirm services and equipment locations, assess access, and gather all the information required to prepare an accurate fixed price quotation. Some projects can be completed remotely depending on the information provided.

  • What happens during a site inspection?

    During the visit, we:

    • Measure rooms and confirm heating requirements.
    • Assess gas, plumbing and electrical services.
    • Discuss thermostat and equipment locations.
    • Take photos and videos for planning purposes.
    • Review any site specific considerations before finalising your quotation.
  • What information do you need before preparing a quote?

To speed up the process, it helps to know:

    • Your expected project timeframe.
    • Whether three phase power is available on site.
    • Your preferred fuel source, such as a gas boiler or heat pump.
    • Your preferred thermostat type, either programmable or WiFi enabled.
    • Any building plans or renovation drawings you may have available.
  • What are your payment terms?

All invoices are due upon receipt unless otherwise agreed in writing before the project begins.

  • How long is my quotation valid for?

Our quotations are generally valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Once accepted, pricing can be locked in, subject to supplier pricing conditions.

  • What happens if the project is not suitable or outside my budget?

If the project is not viable after the provisional quotation stage, we simply close the process with no obligation to proceed.

  • Why does AquaHeat follow this process?

After more than 27 years specialising in hydronic heating across the UK and Australia, we have refined a quoting process that allows us to design tailored systems, provide accurate pricing, and deliver a smoother experience from concept through to completion.
